The Instagram Trap
There is this increase of framework in which it is favored to communicate on Instagram, rather than just do things as you want. Instagram wants us to post consistently, with mixed formats (reels, IGTV, swipe throughs, products, guides..). It wants comments with more than 5 words, it wants saves, it wants shares. It wants story interactions, messages, poles and and tags.
The more opinionated, the more radical, the more controversial posts get the most attention. The ones we feel so strongly about we just might let the microphone drop in the comment section. Now what does that do for a society in which people face different struggles? We are from different backgrounds, we have different life experiences and these lead us to different views.
If I want this post to be popular I need to have a conclusion. I need to make a statement, something you will identify with and want to share. Then I get more likes, more views, more followers, more attention, more work. In this economy of attention I will have it easier. Or so it seams, if only it weren’t a trap.
It is what it is
The one that came with excitement.
The one that left a mistake.
The one that spilled all its sweet juicy voluptuous taste on the first round.
The one that more fast than slow turned into a rock.
The one that was really meant to be more of a quickie.
The one whose given name, whose category, whose packaging led us to false expectations.
Remember that chewing gum.
The one that actually kind of performed exceptionally... if only we had seen it for what it was.

Do I not know that I know?
What I know N°1
I have an opinion about everything I know .
There’s more to know about everything I know.
We are all the same, as we presume to know.

MODERN DAY CONTRADICTION
There is a very long list of things to do,
I don’t have time for you.
There is a very long list of things to do,
It is filled with places to be,
People to see,
Things to create:
It all must be great!
There is a very long list of things to do,
It goes on
And on
And on it goes,
When it will end nobody knows.
There is a very long list of things to do, but they are nothing without you.
Maybe a love poem
I want you to keep your word,
I want your words to have weight.
I want you to love yourself,
I want you to be good with the world.
I want to know you're there when you're not,
I want to love you a lot.
It's the second of June 2020
It’s the second of June 2020
As I open my phone I feel pain.
That little girl being beat by a police officer.
That man being murdered right in front of my eyes.
I don’t watch horror movies.
I don’t like to see pain.
I see you crying.
I tear up.
I see you hurt.
I feel pain in my heart.
It’s the second of June 2020
As I close my phone my world becomes brighter.
The window is open.
Today the sun is shining.
I go on walks.
I lie in the park.
I see you standing there.
I wonder how you feel.
I see you walk away.
I ask myself if you will heal.
It’s the second of June 2020
As I am more aware than ever of this privilege I have, with the color of my skin, the world seems darker.
My tears do not carry the same pain.
My tears are privileged.
My heart is hurting, but it does not carry the same scars.
My heart is privileged.
It’s the second of June 2020, and I want to be a better citizen in this world.
